Sharon Best was born and raised in Washington, DC to Edward and Gloria Marshall. She is their youngest daughter.
Upon graduating from Ballou Sr. High school, Sharon attended Nursing School in Pittsburg, PA. She joined the Navy while still in school.
Sharon met her future husband when they were both stationed in Norfolk VA. From that union, Kim Audrey was born. Sharon also has four grandchildren, Adrianna, Diara, Eric II, and Kelly.
Sharon earned her first Master’s Degree in theology, and another in psychology. She even became a ministe, working in the Prison Ministry at her church, as well as at CSOSA, where she matched returning ex-offenders with mentors from various churches in northwest DC.
Sharon is currently pursuing her Doctorate in theology.
Sharon is exceptionally active in the Cedar Lane Community, servng as chair of the 2018 Holiday Party. In 2019, Sharon was encouraged to become an officer in the Tenant’s Association, where she was elected President.
“What a humbling experience it is to be elected,” she said. “I would like to see more participation within the Association. I want to work closely with Tonya, the Activities Coordinator.”
